ASSESSOR OF PROPERTY VIVIAN WILHOITE COMMENTS ON THE UNEXPECTED PASSING OF FORMER COUNCILMEMBER JAMIE ISABEL

Nashville, TN (August 11, 2026) – I am devastated by the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of my dear Tennessee State University college friend and former Metro Council colleague, Jamie Isabel.

Jamie and I were both elected to the Metropolitan Council in 2003. As two of its younger members, we came to the Council with high hopes, great energy, and a genuine desire to serve and make a difference in the lives of others.  Jamie did just that.

Through the years, Jamie remained accessible to his constituents, his community, and his friends. From his leadership in naming the North Nashville police precinct the “Bodenhamer Police Precinct” to working tirelessly to help make the Knowles Senior Center a reality, Jamie understood that public service was about people.

Whether fellowshipping and sharing conversation at Bel-Aire Barbershop, engaging with people through his successful airport businesses, or simply taking the time to listen to me talk about property valuation, Jamie had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued.  That was Jamie.

I will deeply miss his calls, the affectionate nickname he gave me, his friendship, his jovial personality, and the laughter and conversations we shared over so many years. It is difficult to comprehend that he is gone so suddenly.

Our prayers run especially deep for his beloved wife, Karen, and his entire family. May God surround them with His comfort, strength, and peace during this incredibly unexpected & difficult time.

Jamie, my friend, you served, you gave, you laughed, you loved, and, yes, you made a difference.  Lord knows, you are missed already. Rest well, my friend.
