The Office of the Assessor of Property is a professional government office responsible for identifying, listing, appraising, and classifying all taxable residential, commercial, and personal property in Metropolitan Nashville & Davidson County.
We are committed to educating and training appraisers the proper skills to providing fair and equitable property valuation. Over the years, we have included in our critical responsibility exposing young people to our mission and work under the Assessor of Property intern program. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work in a general office setting, as well as assist appraisers in the field.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sort, file and organize documents.
- Verify and enter data.
- Receive and direct visitors to the Office.
- Answer and direct phone calls.
- Other clerical duties as assigned.
- Field work includes riding in a Metro vehicle with Appraisers assisting with measuring properties.
- Assisting with Fleet Division in car inspections, transport to repair shops and car wash.
SUMMER INTERNSHIP (8 weeks)
- Term–June 3, 2024 through July 26, 2024
- Days—Monday through Thursday
- 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (1 hour lunch)
- WAGE–$18.00 per hour.
- DESIRED TRAITS- Personable, energetic and customer service oriented.
- Must be able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week.
ELIGIBILITY
- Student must be a resident of Davidson County, Tennessee, unless they are a member of an Office of Assessor staff’s family.
- Student must be enrolled in a Davidson County, Tennessee High School.
- Student must be enrolled in a four-year institution pursuing studies in real estate, government finance or related field.
